Advancing Local Production for Health Equity, Global Health Security, and Sustainable Development
The World Local Production Forum (WLPF), led by the WHO, aims to enhance global access to medicines through local production. It brings together stakeholders to address production challenges and promote collaboration, emphasizing local production as key to equitable access. In response to COVID-19 vulnerabilities, the forum supports countries in building local manufacturing capabilities to reduce dependency on external suppliers.
Aligned with WHO resolutions like WHA74.6, the forum strengthens global health security. Led by the LPA Unit, the WLPF focuses on overcoming barriers such as capacity limitations, regulations, and technology transfer, prioritizing local production to improve health systems and access to essential medicines.
